WIN-Poll(ing): What is a reasonable price for coffee?

“I do drink coffee, but not here at school! I think these prices are way too high. I think it’s a waste of money when I can drink it at home for much less. The fact that coffee costs over two euros here is really excessive. Less than a euro would be normal for me. Then I might consider it occasionally.” Jelka, student Social Work

“I often choose specialty coffees, and they’re quite pricey. But that’s my choice; I’m a fourth-year student and have a bit more money to spend. A regular coffee costs around three euros, especially with today’s prices. I think prices at the university are comparable to those outside of school. But a university should be more focused on discounts.” Elvira, student Teacher Education in Biology

“I think €2.50 for a regular coffee is a good price. A simple black coffee should be around €2. I don’t know much about current coffee prices. But if specialty coffees or a matcha go up to €4, I wouldn’t find that outrageous. Maybe it could be a bit lower at a university, but I don’t think it’s excessively expensive.” Ieke, student Nursing

“I think a coffee over two euros is quite expensive, especially at a university. We’re students, we’re young, and we generally don’t have much to spend. I think you should be able to get a regular coffee for less than two euros. We’re not Starbucks, are we? The prices should definitely be a bit lower.” Jocel, student Journalism

“I don’t actually drink coffee myself, so I don’t know exactly what a normal price for coffee is. I do think prices at a university should be lower than in the city. We’re students, not café-goers. I’d sooner get tea than coffee, but with these relatively high prices, it doesn’t really appeal to me.” Hanne, student Social Work
